He is a leading voice on energy and environmental issues and held several senior executive roles with BP, including head of the Refining and Distribution business, where he managed a $500 million per year capital budget and Chief Scientist and Vice President, Environmental Affairs. He was Chair of the Office of Renewable Energy in the UK Government, directing a staff of 80 civil servants on policy, subsidies, and business relations to develop the UK Renewable Energy Roadmap, which increased renewable electricity from 4% to 19% in 4 years. He has also been on 11 Corporate Boards, including nine years as a board member of Severn Trent plc, the UK’s largest publicly traded water utility; Chairman of AEA Technology plc, Chairman of Pursuit Dynamics plc, and Chairman of Chemrec AB. His radio programs, Environment on the Edge, were heard on Voice America, he has been a regular columnist for Huffington Post and Guardian Sustainable Business, and he is the author of the well-reviewed book on leadership, Crash Course. Dr Bulkin is Emeritus Professorial Fellow of Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge.
